The thing that made me fall in love with doTERRA oils was learning how to use them as part of my own self-care as a means for daily emotional support; and that what this post is all about.
Did you know that essential oils have both soothing, uplifting and emotional support properties?! So often we think of essential oils as just nice smells but trust me, the are soo much more than that!!
Aromatic dressing is like daily ‘self annointing’ or ‘self love’ ritual whereby we add few essential oils to a carrier and massage them onto the body as part of our self-care each day.
I love to make aromatic dressing blends that support my emotional needs (such as these mood support blends) but with over 70 oils in my collection I have a wide range of choices everyday to select from!
You can think of them like herbs in a kitchen, and at different times we choose different things (even if we have a few of our staples). This means if I am run down I might reach for OnGuard, Basil or Citrus oils. If I am feeling wound up I might reach for more calming oils like Balance, Frankincense or Clary Sage. And if I’m feeling playful I might reach for Ylang Ylang, Tangerine and Wild Orange.
Set your intention for the day
I also love to use this aromatic dressing time each morning (right after my morning shower) to set my intention for the day ahead. As I am massing the oils into my body as I affirm positive things about my body, put my focus on attracting what I want to attract or experience in this day to come. More on this in the video below!

How to Aromatic dress and fav combinations
Watch my video above for a full explanation, but you simply need to add
- 2 drops of 2 -3 different essentials oils (ideas below)
- 2 Tbs carrier oil (Fractionated coconut oil is what I use)
- in a bowl or ramekin. Then dip your fingers in, rub and apply to your body sending love and good vibes while you do it.
Some of my favourite Aromatic dressing combinations are below (although it really does change with my mood, whats happening in my life and what I need / want for the day ahead).
- Balance and Wild orange / Bergamot
- Clary calm and Wild Orange
- Clary Sage, Frankincense and Bergamot
- Balance and Elevation
- Whisper and wild orange
- “Beautiful”—Lime, Frankincense, Bergamot
I honestly feel almost naked or not ready for my day if I haven’t done my aromatic dressing after a shower each morning! Its a bit like doing yoga – I feel better for doing it every single time 🙂
Imagine how something this simple could enhance your mood, body image or bring some self care into your day! If you have some oils at home try this (but make sure they are high quality as you are placing them on your skin!). I only use doTERRA oils on my body these days.
